Description of the overall mission of this organization: 
PASA's mission is to expand and improve quality after-school, summer, and other expanded learning opportunities for the youth of Providence by organizing a sustainable, public/private system that contributes to student success and serves as a national model.
PASA achieves this mission by making intentional connections between the community and the schools in it's AfterZone (middle school) and Hub (high school) initiatives.
Ages of youth served: 11-18
Hours of internship: (number of hours, days, times) Flexible, available M-F 9:00-5:00
Description of role and duties: 
PASA has internship options within three different departments: Middle School Initiatives, High School Initiatives, and Quality Assurance. Opportunities within those departments include:
  • Middle School Initiatives: Responsibilities include direct service activities with middle school youth, lesson planning, logistical coordination, data tracking.
  • High School Initiatives: Responsibilities include direct service activities with high school youth, lesson planning, logistical coordination, data tracking.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsibilities within the Quality Department include supporting the revisions and delivery of trainings for after school and summer educators; using data and feedback from this summer to identify needed changes for next summer; supporting staff on a national two-year project aimed at improving youth outcomes through purposeful data collection; and contributing to the development of digital badges to showcase the skills acquired by youth in PASA programs

Description of the culture of the place 
PASA has 19 full time staff members plus approximately 12 part-time site based staff. Dress code for office-based staff is business casual, while site-based staff working directly with youth dress slightly more casually.
All staff are motivated to provide the best possible programs for youth and communicate regularly through meetings, e-mail and chat.
Additional Requirements: (travel, etc)
Opportunities are available within PASA's office. There is also the potential for working at school-based programs. Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from internship locations.
